Greetings from Seoul and Cebu

Greetings from Seoul and Cebu

After 12 hours, even a plane that is luxurious even in economy class, a 12-hour plane ride is just about three hours too long.

Amber, Carol, Don, Elena and I arrived in Seoul at 5:30 p.m. local time. Mary joined us after taking a flight from Seattle. We are 16 hours ahead of PST, which means we traveled into the daylight the entire trip. I feel like they must in the most northern regions with 24 hours of daylight. However, we are all in good spirits, if not in need of showers, and enjoying a quick layover before we leave for Cebu at 8 p.m.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet some interesting people along the way. From a young man escorting his elderly Chinese grandmother to customs (as far as he could go) with her looking like a wide-eyed child as she prepared to go to Shanghai. We’re sitting with an American who works with a Dallas, Texas shipping company who spends most of his time in South Korea.

I’m also excited to meet the people we will serve with on Limosawa. I’ve been watching Facebook and seeing how they are preparing for this mission. I love watching God pull everything together. It’s a symphony with many instruments coming together to play a grand concerto giving glory to Him.

I don’t have a lot of news to relay today. Please pray for our health and safe travels. Pray for our families at home. Pray also that our medications arrive in Cebu and that the pharmacies will have plenty of everything we need.

……..

Well, I wasn’t able to post to the blog in Seoul, but I’m in Cebu City in the Philippines now. It is 2:30 a.m. on Saturday May 14 here making it 11:30 a.m. Friday in Oregon. I guess I really am a closer to Liz in age now.

Tomorrow we will meet the rest of the team from the Philippines and get things started. As I said before, please pray for safe travels and health. Oh, and maybe wish me luck finding a tarantula exoskeleton for Maddy. I assured Liz I wouldn’t bring home a live one.

I anticipate being able to post more news and some photos tonight. God bless and thanks again for your support.

Sheldon
